12x15 SEF For V3i

Hello. Could someone who has experience with 12x15 sef coil elaborate on the depth that you gain if any between 12" White's concentric and 12x15 sef is there significant gain on coin size objects using V3i ? Thank You.

I cannot tell you I gained more depth. However I gained 75% coverage and much better behavior in iron infested areas it is really a no brainer for me. All my areas are trashy. However the super 12 has pulled silver dollars sized coins at 12" for me in the past.

In air testing I gained 1-1.5" over the super 12 and this is with both coils running about as hot as I could using 3 frequency and hitting repeatedly.

11" on a silver dime with the 12x15 and 9.5-10" with the super 12. I think I could have coaxed another inch through tweaking on both coils. This was also with emi present next to my house. Shoot, I may have been able to get 14" on a dime air testing with 12x15

In single frequency there may be a larger difference, I have not tested and need to eat lunch :)

I could/and had to run a higher gain and disc with the super 12 without falsing. There is emi to consider here and I dont know how that will play out in a field without any EMI. Further testing would be needed.

The super 12 excels in a park setting with nicely manicured grass as the pinpointing is superb. If you are digging deep or moderately deep targets with the 12x15 they may be 8" off of center and this really means big holes.

I am very happy with my purchase and have had the coil bring all my old hunting grounds back to life. It really does see coins better than any other coil at depth, just keep it running hot.

I can second most of what Burlbark said, except that my unit is neigh unusable if there is any EMI present (like overhead or buried powerlines within a couple hundred feet). I don't have any issues with pinpointing though; you just have to remember that with an SEF coil you must pinpoint then pivot (90 degrees or so) and pinpoint again.

EMI can really cause havoc and it something that these coils have trouble with. I think the issue I have with pinpointing is that the remaining targets in my sites where questionable with other coils. The orientation of burried items was causing skewed signals.

I was doing testing between two fifth wheels and the power sources for them. The 6x10 worked fine but the 10x12 SEF was picking up the EMI big time. In the right place it works great.
