12x10 & S-12 Drag In The Water?

Critterhunter

I found my 15x12 was too much drag on my GT in the water for my tastes. Love the 12x10 for land hunting but haven't tried to use it in the water yet. I would assume the S-12 is no more drag (or at least it's not an issue) in the water compared to the 10" Tornado because I don't think I've ever heard any bad remarks about that. Was wondering if any of you 12x10 users have found it to be too much drag in the water or not really a problem? My water rig is setup with the stock 10" Tornado since I never use that on land anymore as I like the 12x10 very much. How does the drag of the S-12 or 12x10 compare in the water to the stock 10" Tornado?

Best to have a small coil, 12 x 10, for the Gulf Coast, and maybe Lakes..

What works the Best Has alot to do with where you hunt, like everything else. I perfer the 8, the 10 is too much, and this is in Ocean waters. Even in the Bay were there is less current, the 8 is Ideal, unless your shallow water hunting.. Dealing with water like this (Video), anything bigger then a 8 your going to spend all day Fighting targets.

compared to my stock 10 inch coil the 10x12 sef is lighter and thinner. have not used it in a while, i need to fix it up a little.
just took my 10 inch off and put my 71/4 on(both minelabs) and will be using it tonight.
the larger coils are more of a drag than the smaller coils. i am on the east coast of florida and current and waves make the large coils a little hard to use. i guess its up to you and how much of a work out you want.

I have the 12x10 for my GT and yes it is lighter without the coil cover than the 10" Tornada. I use spray on bed liner to protect the bottom of it. Just haven't used this coil in the water yet so don't know if drag is a problem. I know the 15x12 was too much drag in the water for my tastes. I'm hunting fresh water beaches on the great lakes where current or huge waves isn't an issue.
