12x10 over stock cibola coil

crossotter

New member
In moderate soil to a little on the warm side and no iron masking,,,how much MORE depth in the ground should I get over the stock coil. crossotter

I tried the 10x12 on the Cortes. In air tests it was no better on a dime, got 1" more on a quarter. In actual use in a yard it chattered too much and is heavy. Didn't like it.

I've got one that tends to chatter on my DeLeon. It works fine on my Eldorado (manual ground balance) and gives several more inches in depth depending a bit on the size of the target.

I have used the 12x10 on 3 uMax detectors. On the Cortes, no matter how I ground balanced (in AM) and also in DISC it would chatter and false like no tomorrow no matter where I hunted it. However on the Silver uMax and the Silver Sabre uMax (the uMax equivalent of the Cibola) it was EXTREMELY quiet and MUCH deeper than the 9x8. I was able to often run MAX boost and at least always close to max. First time I tried it on the Silver uMax dimes were popping out from all over the place at depths I won't go into because it sounds ridiculous. :surprised:

Would it be reasonable to assume that the 12x10 would work on a Cutlass II umax?

Actually I've heard that about the silver uMax and 12X10 coil before. I thought maybe he was exaggerating a bit, but maybe a good combo to look into for relic hunting in "hunted out" areas.

Does anyone know if the 10x12 concentric goes deeper and without chattering on the Golden umax. If its good I would look for one.
