12v Excalibur 1600ma Nimh replacement pod

Was just wondering if anyone using the drop-in battery Nimh replacement pods that sell for about $34 have tried the fast chargers and if there is a problem with the battery pods warping from the heat of a fast charge. Tried to search the forum but couldn't find any info. Thanks, Mike

Yep, I use one on my Excal, no problem slipping it into the AAA battery pod. I use the same charger as I use for my SOV GT (15vdc/no load 100mA). I just bought an adapter so it will plug into either battery pack, Excal's 5.45x12 mm or SOV's 3.45x11mm, both are center positive.
I did put a thermal gun on it several times and the hottest it has ever got is 76 deg F.
I love the 1600ma NiMH battery, it runs my Excal for about 16 hrs before letting me know time to recharge.

Respectfully,
Larry

Thanks for the reply. Those pods are so expensive didn't want to chance it. The only thing is, the guy selling the pod is also selling a 600ma charger which is supposed to charge it in 4 hours. Too fast? Mike

I have bought the Nimh replacements and the charger and have seen no ill effects from the fast charge so far. But then again, I haven't gotten it wet either. It charges about as fast as the car charger from Minelab, so I guess it's OK!! You get good long life from one charge, that's for sure. Much better than the Nicads.
