I love this forum I have been reading all your post for a while. This is my first time posting because I have never found much to post and I have never had any questions. I water detect Lake Erie in Ontario Canada close to Buffalo NY. My question is has anybody ever found a way to open a 1280x? I was SCUBA diving today with mine and water got in it . Fisher said the unit is not covered under warranty because I bought it used. Any info would be of great help.

P.S. Keep posting the great stuff. I love to see all that GOLD

It may be a much simpler solution such as a bad coil cable or headphone short. I would get water into the battery compartment every now and then but all you have to do is dry it out with a hairdryer, add new batteries and you're good to go. A little vaseline or another lubricant of your choice on the battery cover gasket and you're all set.
