bought a new Fisher1280x water detector earlier this year-HOLEY MOLEY!!!!-------This thing is SWEET!!No comparison to my old Whites Surfmaster2-Blows it out of the water!!!This thing is SO SENSITIVE....It was finding pieces of single lead shot 8 inches deep in the sand-Great in the water, too!!I LOVE IT!!!...shoulda bought it sooner....

And people would have you believe that a unit must be multi-frequency to be deep, and higher frequency to hit gold. The Aquanaut is a single frequency VF, and is very deep, as you have seen.

Lots of different sizes of "shot", from tiny #9 to cannonball sized "shot-put". Kind of hard to determine what is being claimed here without a referrence point of some kind (ground AND target).

But yeah, I agree, the 1280 is one heck of a machine !

my mistake,folks-I forgot to tell you how big it was-SO SMALL;IT TOOK AN HOUR TO FIND..........not really,it was about the size of a b-b,a tad bigger,maybe-but it WAS 8 inches deep,in wet sand. Some people told me I wouldnt be happy with the 8 inch coil this machine has;but it works for me.what REALLY appealed to me was the lifetime warranty.

B.B. is .17 caliber; #4 buck is .25 caliber; 00 buck is .32 caliber and 000 buck is .36 caliber.
# 2 birdshot is .22 caliber; anything below B.B. progressing to # 12 is so small you almost need a Gold Detector. You can pick up, 4, 5, 6, birdshot, but try to find it once it is dug.
