Anyone have any imfo on a fisher 1280 and it's stability on wet and dry salt water areas???? Thx's gottit

1280X aquanaut ??? good machine much better in fresh water. i had one for approx 10 years. at the ocean beaches i have hunted with it i had toruble with instability. the sinsitivity had to be turned down quite a bit to stabilize.it is a silent search (no threshhold) and no multi tone. mine had the 10 in coil. i heard with the smaller coil it does better in salt. i dont know that first hand but heard from others. I havnt owned any standard VLF machine that is as stable and deep as the minelag's on the beach. the 1289X a good machine but if you can,,, the excalibur is a much better choice. even as a land machine.

good luck!!!

Thx's got a sov gt/ was wanting a good h20 unit for use 20% of the time thx's for your imput user of a prod know best!! gottit

with the 8 inch coil. Built like a tank, I have the chest mount setup now. Great, True all purpose machine. The machines weakest area is the saltwater beach, you want to be in or out of the water with it. It will chatter more if you hunt in the areas were those small waves roll over the coil. Just went out a couple of times in the last 2 weeks here in NY and NJ to the salt beaches, my machine ran really well considering there was a lot of black sand around. Didn't go in the water but in the wet sand I was able to run the sens up to 8 (10 is the max setting.) ran the sens at 10 in the dry sand. MikeB is right it is a 1 tone silent search machine it's an easy turn on and go machine. Pinpoints on a dime, batteries last 4 ever. I use it all over in the freshwater, saltwater, wet sand, dry sand and in the parks digging in the dirt. Good Luck,
Glenn
Here are some of the finds my last time out which doesn't show the 4 bucks in clad.
