1270 Users

I have been bouncing back and forth between a CZ-70 and CZ-3D. But since i like to dig nearly everything I was told that maybe I would like a 1270. I was curious what users here thought of them. How is target seperation and depth on the average? And very importantly, I have never hunted with a single toned machine. Any major drawbacks or concerns? Thank you!

I have had several machines by many different manufacturers. I have a 1270 and love it. As far as depth goes I can find pennies from 8-10 inches and quarters at a foot. We have very low mineralized soil here. A dime will blow your ears off at 6 inches and is very easily heard at 8. As far as the tone, my first machine was a walmart special and it was a multi-tone machine and I hated it. You are probably used to the multi-tone machines but I guess it is just personal preference. The above depths were with the normal disc set at 7. So if you like to dig anything and leave your disc down or hunt in all metal, you will probably see a little more depth. Something pretty spectacular would have to come along for me to replace my 1270. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. So it seems then it's a good coin machine then? I know it seems to get praised as a great relic machine but I am mostly a coinhunter so it was a concern.

I have just gotten(had for about 2 months) a 1270 and do like it, I have had alot of the name brands,my thought is if you like multi tone machines,it will take alot of getting used too to use the 1270, it does great with getting rid of the iron, but most coin hunters are looking for more than that,I actually was considering trading my 1270 towards an edge or 3d because I have always been partial to detector with some kind of vdi or something.I grew up on whites!Hope I did not confuse things, as the 1270 is a great detector with above avg. depth .I quess what I am saying is if it was me I would go with the 70 or the 3d, with the 70 disc. you might check mr.Bill had some new with the warranty.hope this helps!
