1270 repair ???

Does anyone know where one of the best place to send a 1270 in for repair/recalibration?? My 1270 seems to work sometimes and other times not good at all. My buddy uses a 1270 and I watched him swing the heck out of his and that is when I realized something was wrong. I had to swing extremely SLOW while hunting the dry sand beach. I almost missed a shallow dime while swinging slowly and I was on top of it. I had to swing back and forth and then I found it. I was so disappointed. I gave it to my buddy to check out. He told me that he would get so tired because he has to dig so deep. I had informed him not so with this unit. He first thought it might be a coil problem, but not so anymore. My buddy knows allot about the older Fisher's, Fisher used to send him their machines to test and evaluate. Which brings me to my question. You see my buddy thinks that if I send it to Fisher, they may not initially find the problem without using the machine several times and thus it will not get fixed.
Thanks, Kevin

If its under warranty, send it to fisher with a complete an detailed diagnoses and also call and talk it thru with Felix as to the problem, and if you have the same problem when it comes back they he will make sure the next time it will get fixed and if its not fixed right the first time and you have to send it back tell them you want a them to pay to ship it back, they did that with my 1270. Never had a problem with getting my 1270 fixed they did great. Also tell them to do the free updates on the 1270. heres the post from their web site:

"1270 - A customer indicated that the case sometimes breaks off at the grip and that water can get in and the circuits corrode. These were determined to be clear design weaknesses. We continue to work on all products and make improvements when ever possible!

We have made changes to improve:

1) Added a machined steel support to reinforce the bottom of the case so that it will not break.
2) Weather-proofed by adding silicon around the junction between the face plate and the case halves.
3) Sealed the speaker (it's mounted on top and points up) with a clear plastic seal."

I agree with shooter send it back to Fisher (FT), I just got mine back from repair it seems to work like a new one. I had my machine back in less than 3 weeks. Make sure you put a good letter in the box that tells them what the problem is.

Good luck,

Ron in WV

Yea, I sent my CZ3D to them and they fixed it well. I had planned on sending the 1270 to Fisher, except my friend ,for what ever reason, seems to think that this unit being intermittent Fisher may not find the problem. My buddy is going to write me up a detailed summary and I will use it to send in to Fisher.

Thanks you guys, Kevin

And don't forget th ask for the updates cause that seal one is important, water will get in the 1270. CALL FELIX DON"T EMAIL...........................
