Is this unit a single tone or comes with different bell tones.
Hemm, with a forum user name like "RELIC_HUNTER" I would think the 1270 would be your dream machine! Relic hunting has gotten the 1200's a VERY LONG successful track record of being one of the best relic hunting machines out there!

I believe the 1270's tone is pretty much like the 1266 and the 1265 in that its one tone but different targets sound differently,
Short Crisp,
A short round sound,
Snap-crackle-pop,
ect..
Those that have spent a great deal of time running these machines claim they can ID and judge depth as well as any detector can, but they also say it takes a lot of hours learning the detector's language, even the one tone!
