I always wondered if the 1270 had the great Modulated audio like the other 1200's and CZ's where the deeper coins are softer in audio so you can tell how deep the target is? On CZ's it is adjustable as I run my CZ-3D at 4. Is it adjustable on the 1270? Also how does the depth compare to CZ's on coin's? I always wanted to try a 1270 Detector as I have used CZ's for 15 years. Thanks.
I was wondering the same thing. I have a CZ-70pro and I run the volume at 4 to achieve that nice modulated audio on deep coins. I have a 1270 on the way to me now and hope it has a similar audio setup. -Jay

Okay, I've owned a CZ and to the best of my knowledge the Modulation isn't adjustable. The volume is, but that's not the same thing as "Modulation" Now, I do believe the CZ's had a faint audio boost, in that at some point in the modulation the unit would boost the response.
But the answer to the question 'does the 1270 have modulation audio' ?
Yes!
Now how nice it is as compared to the CZ's I don't know?
All, the detectors I've ever had used had modulated audio, the Whites XLT had the option to enable or disable the modulation, but not adjust it, it was all or nothing.
The best modulated audio detectors I've used is the Omega, it just keeps getting farther away, other just go so far and then the audio just falls off the cliff, my Tejon is like that, its modulated to a point. The little I've used my 1270 I would say it has pretty good modulation.
I've always been under the impression that modulation is a the volume of the response being in correlation to the distance away from the target. Shallow Target=Loud Response, Deep Target=Softer response. If that's the case then the CZ's have it. Then again, I am no expert and could be wrong all together. -Jay

I also consider this modulated audio. And yes it is adjustable with the volume control. I love to hunt this way as to bypass the loud mostley clad signals and consentrate on the softer deeper older coin signals. I had an Omega and it wasn't adjustable. To me the audio was too modulated for my hearing.
Hi,
All theoretical bs - modulated audio to achieve depth determination..
You bury a small gold chain strung loosely and a big course gold chain wound tightly at the same depth and you will get different audio signals.
Same goes for a coin standing on edge an a coin buried flat.
On a beep and dig machine, not knowing what kind of target you are just detecting, the audio signal will not give an accurate account regarding depth.
At least that has been my experience - yours may differ.
