It found the ring, but could not find the missing stone. I'm bummed as I have never found a ring with a diamond any bigger than 1/3ct. Oh well!!

14K white gold ring with 16 baguettes minus the center stone. There's a .50 ct diamond out there somewhere!

Did the same thing on land...actually screened buckets of dirt from the area but the stone was long gone..I remember my neighbor knocking on my door and saying does your detector find diamonds..To make a long story short his daughter lost a 2 kt. diamond out of her ring in his driveway. Well we waited till dark, got some flashlights and scanned the ground, gosh living in the coal region never realized how many flashes you can get..After 15 minutes or so really got a bright one so I crunched it in my hand..In the Kitchen the family waited while I dropped the contents on a rag on the kitchen table...yepper there it was all 2 kts. Heck who needs a detector...

Dan,

Maybe I should go back at night with a waterproof flashlight and start fanning the bottom. I could tell people I'm hunting for amphibious snipe!

If that dont work, A watermelon roast on the beach sounds good. ;)

Sand and tides and the like really move gold jewelry and a diamond with little weight would really move..
Heck its 90 and I like my watermelon cold...

Dan,

You never been to a beach party where there was a watermelon roast??

Put the melon in the fire and when it explodes you go out in the bushes and get a piece.

Well that put a smile on my face...afraid I grew up in Coal region and my experiences were drivein's with a 56 chevy...Nice to put a little jocularity in our discussions and wish I had that 56 chevy as its become a collectors item...
