I have two 1266 X detectors. The first one I bought about 15 years ago and wore it out using it. So I found one a guy had that had almost no use on it and bought it 2 months ago. Now, I dont know if the newer one is the older or newer model for sure but they both look identical to me. Maybe ask the company. Steve in so az
 
I 've had a 1266X since introduced in 1991. still use it for general hunting, except on salt water beaches. The coil on mine is white. Continues to work as expected. Norm
