1266x

Absolutely nothing, I could see maybe one in real good shape bringing in $350. The 1266x is still a good machine, but they are getting real old. If you are looking try to find a 1270 it will beat the 1266x hands down, I know I have had both.

1270 is the better machine with better user options but the 1266x has a better overall balance to it due to the batteries being in the arm rest and the 1266x detectors are built like a tank they can handle abuse and they still have their cult followers. Like Ron said 300-350 tops on price, but on the auction site people get stupid and over bid on machines.

What is in this machine that warrants $450-$800 on the auction block.
Unless your a collector and the detector in UNUSED and still in the box and your talking about USD (dollars) its not worth that kind of money, even with a two or three coil package.
Now, if its got some other items with it to bring up the price like but even then I don't see how it could come close to the $800.00 price range!

Got to agree with all of you...

Just bought a one owner 1266x still has original box and a few accessories, very very rare to find in this shape.have a mate for it also, fixed for life now with rare factory stock 5x10" ellipitcal coil and a stock 8" water coil:thumbup:1270's are nice and mucho deep ,just a little heavier then the 1266x.

The 1266X is a work horse. I've found many relics and coins with mine. I've never had or used a 1270 but have always wanted to try one... good luck with the 1266 ang HH

These are great deep detectors. I loved everything about it...except the snap, crackle, pop! I never could get use to that. I sold the machine and regret it every no and again...

The auction prices are ridiculous. I've seen 2 at an auction site well above $400 and they looked beat. What makes them valuable is the line of thinking, "they don't make them like that anymore". That's what nostalgia does - inflates the perceived value. I had one for years and it's a good machine. Certainly not the best...but very good in it's day. If I'm spending $400+ (today) it wouldn't be on a 66, I'll put it towards a real good, contemporary detector.
