I have a chance to get a 1266 x can anyone tell me about this machine ? I heard it's a depth monster.

it's true.... a great relic machine too..

If it's like it's baby brother the 1265x is a Silver slayer... best kept secret Fisher had for years!!!!

A simple turn on and go detector simply set your two disc levels, turn up the sensitivity level as high as you can bare, it's a motion detector, coil has to be in motion to detect anything. Just set it up put your headphones on...stick out your arm and start walking. Whenever you get a beep stop and swing side to side and back and forth, if it sounds good ,, flip the toggle switch for Disc 2, if it still sounds good in Disc 2, squeeze trigger to pinpoint. This detector along with the 1265x finds coins deep, believe me I have found 5 cent silver coins half the size of dimes as deep as my elbow in moist clay soil. Make sure the toggle switch is working before buying, after extended long use usually this is where problems arise, GL!

What A1MTD said ...it is that simple...get it. I've had many detectors over the years, and now hunt with a Fisher F75, a Teknetics T2 SE, and a Teknetics G2..they are all great machines..but I'm not sure that they have the raw depth of the 1266x. The 1266x is the only machine over the years that I regret selling.

I've gone through 2 and am on my 3 rd. This after wasting my 1265 from use. Been detecting 31 years , cannot imagine finding more than I do so why change ? It does take some getting used to but well worth the effort. Things too easily had are too easily lost, Steve in so az

Bob, I think you should snatch that 1266x up. It's a high powered, no frills muscle machine with a heck of a punch.

i still have my 1266xb, bought new in 1992, i'll never sell it. it really does detect deep! if it is in good shape and priced reasonably, buy it!
