this is not an ad but a guy at work has a 1266x for 100 bucks,,, I already have a F2 and the 1212X and other brands,,,,,, do you guys think I should buy this 1266 or save for a more modern machine.

If it is a good working 1266x, jump on it. The 1266x is a really good hard hunting machine.

If you end up getting this detector and it works and looks pretty good you can easily double your money or more. Better yet use it and you will find that it will keep up with the big boys and you will not find a detector anywhere that will feel better in your hand.

It is a beep and dig but the 1266x is machine that a lot still look for.

Let us know if you make a deal.

Hard to go wrong at that price. It is a go to machine for depth.

Good God almighty your post should have said I just stole a 1266x for 100.00!! You need to jump on it if not pm me and I'll buy it!!!

Well, lets see if it works you could easily sell it for $200....

If the 1266-X is the kind of machine that tempts you, and if the one you're being tempted by works, $100 bucks is a huge bargain. The seller should be grateful that a buyer like you showed up.

Those are two big "ifs".

Can't knock the thing, I'm the guy who designed it. That was something like 20 years ago and back then it was a high end unit. Its ergonomics are still world class, as are its hots on deep silver if you pay attention to the sounds, ya gotta listen for those broad sounds amidst the choppy ones.

Soooo nice to have your input Dave!
I can't imagine a golfer with only one club in his bag and I appreciate having various detector models for different demands. When we have the opportunity to pick up a class unit for 10 cents on the dollar for new price... well, I would (and have) grab it. EBay is a risky medium. Where purchasing forum, face to face or friends are better and dealers we know and trust is best of all after buying new. I am running a new or used stick every 90 day since I started two years ago. :detecting:
