1266x and CZ6A fair market price?

Hello Fisher team,
I am selling a 1266X and a CZ6 that has had the headphone jack conversion so I guess its an "A" now, for a good friend that needs the money. Question is, what is a fair price for these two machines? They are in great shape and have just been checked out. The 1266X got a new pinpoint/mode switch, 2 new battery holders and a new foam grip to make it look and perform as new. The CZ6 checked out perfect. I know these are older machines but apparently they are still in demand. Thanks for any help :)

They are in demand, that's true. Fair value? Whatever the market will bear, of course.

Currently, there are none in the completed category on ebay to judge by, as that is one benchmark often used.
In the last 90 days there has been one 1266-X on the Classified forum, for $325 from Richard at Backwoods Detectors.
A similar search shows no CZ-6A's have appeared there.

With that question, though, you'll get all sorts of answers, from the ridiculous to the sublime. Which are you gonna choose?
I've seen clean 1266's go for between 275 and 300 private-sale dollars. Maybe a tad more if in super nice shape.
The CZ's go for more, as you might expect, in the neighborhood of 450 clams.

- I like ebay, myself, as you get a larger pool of interested parties. THEY know what these things are worth, by and large and are usually eager to make bids if you've done your part with the listing. You can also get buyers from overseas to enlarge your market.
- You may also try a similar 'silent-bid sale' here, if it's allowed.
- Or you can also simply "price test," asking an inflated price... banking on counter offers in order to get to a market price. I personally find that method insulting to everyone concerned, though; that's what car salesmen and realtors do. I know... Im a licensed Real Estate salesman. But, hey, that's just me.

At the end of the day, I think you are already on the right track - offering them NOT up for sale, as you have done.
I wager you will soon find out what they are worth. Then you won't be comparing against some arbitrary valuation and everyone can save a little face. In fact, by now, you may have already gotten some keen offers, unbidden. Heck, I'm tempted to make one myself!

Megadivers,When I sell one of my units everything is broken down and cleaned. The rod asm is taken apart the coil is removed and the control box unmounted when I can.A damp cloth and a Q Tip can work wonders.Foam pad replacements can be found at your local hardware store. When I reassemble the metal detector I make a note of possible defects such as scuffs, scratches, chips and dents to let the buyer know what he is buying, which saves arguments later.Sales are off at Ebay but either of these units should be in demand 1266X start a bid at 275.00 my guess clean around 325-350 final. The CZ6 if it has the updates and clean start bid 299.00 maybe 350.00 plus. most of you know me on Ebay anotherdayattheoffice...........
