O.K guys...i just got my first 1266...doing some air testing and cannot disc out a nickel till around 7 or 8....with sens set low or high..dont seem right to me?my 1236 is around 5...can anyone help? thanks guys...

Sounds kind of odd, your right should be about "5", If its a used detector check that the knob is tighened in the write spot on the switch shaft, should have a flat spot on the shaft. also try burying the nickle a couple of inches to get a turer reading. also try to cut out pull tabs, there around "7", if thats hgher by the same number at least you determined that all the disc. settings are higher, send it to Fisher or compinsate the difference, don't think it will change the depth.

Yes, thats good advice, check the knob. On my 1266x the nickle is disc'ed just a little past 5. Something is definately askew with your machine. Talk to Daniel at Fisher, he fixed my new CZ 3D.

Your disc. is faulty and unit needs a trip to Fisher for repair. Not unusual for switches to go bad on most units....

Hi,:wiggle: Hey buddy it sounds to me like someone has had the ol' golden screwdriver inside of it turning stuff.:nopity: It does however sound like your bias control is out of adjustment. There is some things to check out first though. Just P.M. me and I will help you out. I can possibly guide you depending on your electronics knowledge other corrections you can do with the 1200 series of detectors too. Or you could always send it in to the Fisher Company. ....Thanks....JJ

thanks to all who answered....hey jimmyjiver...sounds like you know a little about the 1200's..I also noticed it picks a pulltab back up at a greater distance.tipical fisher... would you be willing to take in this machine and have a looky see....how much would you charge for something like this? if theres any cure...thanks

Hi, Hey SSM I really don't have the extra time right now. I'm getting ready for spring hunting plus I need to finish up my mods I'm doing to my machine....I will send you a P. M. ......Thanks....JJ

Oops Sorry wrong detector, nevermind

I've had my 1236X2 for a year now, and i have found that if sweep speed is too slow it will not reject properly. It is a great detector and if you do a fast short wiggle over a target it will disc just fine. Quite possibly your 1236X2 is working as intended, and you need to speed up the coil swing to ID properly. Just trying to save you time and money.

thanks...... i did check with another nickel and same results....i'm just comparing disc to my 1236 and its not the same..althoe my 1236 picks up a pulltab back up after a certain distance. my cz5 is also the same with the pulltab..from my experience, all the fisher 1200's do this.i talked with jimmyjive and its on the way to him right now..he thinks he can fix me up...
