1266-x : customize it to make it foldable in 3 parts

Good day to all,

I usually hang out in the Teknetics forum but finally I put my hands on a 1266-x I was looking for a long time. They are not easy to get secondhand in good conditions.

My question is: anyone here managed to customize it and made it foldable in 3 parts? I know many diggers here do that because it is a bit too long and you cannot accomodate it in a rucksack, which is essential if you have to climb and hike on WW1 mountains.

I am not an expert with these kind of jobs but with clear instructions I could do it. Maybe someone could share the best method to do that so far or could advise which parts and where to buy them to complete the job.

Here, they use to saw off the main rod under the handle, then insert another rod with a small diameter and secure it with a screw. Then they drill a hole in the other part and do the same. It a bit rudimental but works. But maybe someone has a better way, possibly using other Fisher parts or so.

Thanks in advance

Matt

I have been thinking of this with my backup 66. It will work pretty much as you said. They do make a 1266 XB which means it breaks down into three parts. steve in so az

thank you guys! I just bought a 1266x so I cannot afford another md right now. I'd rather work on this one
