1266 sensitivity?

took out my old 1266 for a turn on the beach, and forgot how much i missed it-- but i forgot how to use the sensitivety, button pushed in or out?, or do i operate just below the noise chatter? in the wet sand there was more chatter than the dry sand-with the sens. turned up high--so i kept on adjusting, i think i got it! been using my dfx on the beach, which is a good beach machine--- but its gets too heavy after a few straight days--the 1266 is still a killer machine, i woder if fisher has anything comparable to the 1266 that they're mading now thanx transitjim
 
I think the 1270 is about it and it is my understanding they have quit production of 1270, so pretty soon all we will have is what we dig out of the closet.

Most of the time I can run the sensitivety at the max (pushed in) and at about 1/2 to 3/4 of that.

try running the 1270 with high sen. till you hear the threshold and dig the sounds that just make the audio waver not a full tone, i used to do that with my 555-D VLF and dig a ton of deep coin and ring, and it works on the 1270. I jack mine up and lower the vol. so the thres. isn't so bad and flip my Sun-Ray gold pro phones Limiter off, and dig the wavers and got alot of deep coins. Takes a little getting used to but that the way we did it with the VLF machines in the 70's and 80's plus we used reverse discrimination, and it still works great with non-dig. detectors.

Tried running the 1270 sensitivity at MAX, to my surprise the noise or background noise gets quiet over a good target and only gives me a positive good target response. Took me several wheat pennies before I started trusting her.

Ok that's what my old Fisher 555-D does when you use the REVERSE Disc. method of searching and it was real reliable.
