1265X info....

Dan-Pa.

New member
Just picked up a 1265X like new( must have spent a lot of closet time)
I know they are noisy just like the 1266X but perhaps a tip or two would help from you super oldtimers..Any idea where I can get a manual as I believe this oldie but goodie as Fisher doesn't have a manual for this oldie but goodie archived..

Hi Dan - I used the 1265 for many years, wore it out, moved to the 1266, wore it out, got another 1266 which I use now (total of about 15 years). I gave away my 1265 manual to someone about 2 years ago. I will tell you it's the best detector made - in my opinion. It is a little noisy but with experience it doesn't matter. It goes very deep and gives a great signal on objects.
In trashy areas I set disc #1 at 5 and sens almost all the way up. In not so trashy areas (which I usually am in) I set disc #1 at 3. I almost never use disc #2.
The pinpoint is great - you can zero right in on the object.
The only difference between the 65 and the 66 is the sens button is reversed in the way it works. Also, I believe the 66 does go deeper and sound off better.
With the 1266 this year so far I have dug over 9700 coins and 25 solid gold items.
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions, steve in so az

Appreciate the help I have gotten and thanks to all that helped...
Just like older machines...certainly not all the bells and whistles but sure have audio variances to a trained ear...
