1265 battery setup......

What power supply does a 1265 run on 8 double A's or two nine volts..
I always thought like the 1266 it ran on 8 double A's, but one fellow says his runs on 2 nine volts. Was their two models, will two nine volts run a 1265 adequately. Inquiring minds would like to know as I am confused at best....

My 1265-x runs on two sets of 4-AA's, which is equal to 6-volts per 4 batt. If he running two nine volts he's over powering the circuts. my Fisher 555-D takes two sets of 6-AA's so there I can use 2 9-volts 1.5x6=9. If they made 2 models its beyond me never heard of it.

could it be he is just confused by the fact that the 1265 used the snap on connectors like a nine volt?not for sure when they switched, but remember some guys complaining about breaking wires before they went to the drop in packs?

Fisher verifies it takes 8 AA batteries..Owner used rechargeables 9 volts for some reason so unit was being used with more voltage than reqired..Fisher advised use correct batteries and under the circumstances as long as its working well should have no problems. Anyway unit sold (not to me) as I guess I ask too many questions and glad I did. No electrical background myself and very easy to clip on 9 volt batteries using the clip on for the battery packs before drop ins appeared on the scene...Thanks for the input guys...
