1260-X Still Tough to beat

As a back up for my cz-3d, i have purchased an Xtera 50 and aTesoro Cibola {Which comes close} over the last few years , but nothing has been as solid as my old 1260. So i guess my Question is does anyone on this forum still use a 1200 series as there primary detector, Because in my opinion a used 1260= 1265= 1266 are still as good or better than all Mid Priced detectors on the market today. Just food for thought Happy new year :fisher: New to the forum but not to Detecting

Not as a primary, no. But I own a 1236-X2 which I think warrants the hype it has received.

I've tried all the new fangled detectors. Not that they are bad but I always seem to go back to my 1265. I just think it is personal preference and the fact that I got so used to it. By the way, I'm still looking for a 8" spider coil for my 1265. I've tried the class1fieds with no luck. Any idea where I can get one?

Call Mike Scott at Fisher after the 5th. He can probably help you.

Those older accessories are getting hard to find, i used to have what i think was a 12in coil for the 1260 but i sold it at our club auction. HH

I still use my 1266-X when I go relic hunting. I have a Zhadow X-5, a Minelab E-Trac, A Garrett GTI 2500, & a EXP II. But when I want Deep Relics, I grab the 1266-X. HH...Jesse.

I'm still using my 1266x for over 10 years now and have no complaints. It's been a solid performer and never any need to send it to the shop.
I hunt with a few guys that own higher end detectors, but I still keep up with them.

I've been thinking about getting a new machine by Spring and have been looking at the different Minelabs, Fisher F-70 / F-75's and Teknetics T2.
I just missed a nice T2 on Ebay that went for 370.00.

Before I buy, I'm going to try to do a head to head comparison against some of the machines I'm interested in to see if they can really improve my finds.

I'm satisfied with the depth of the 1266, I'd just like to have some more information to digest, so that's why I'm leaning towards a detector with a VDI and depth meter.

Mikewaz- Jesse My main detector is the 3D but it's nice to know that if i have to use my backup I'm confident that 1. it's gonna work and is solid 2. I'll still find stuff 3. the batteries last forever . There is something to be said about just listening to the audio signal and the variations in that one tone that can tell you a lot. and you know i like an audible threshold, i wish the CZ line would have incorporated that. Harvdog,

I bought a 5" coil last Fall from a guy on Ebay. He had quite a few different sized coils and would run auctions every week or so.
The coil I bought from him was listed as used (probably due to some technicality), but I would bet it was brand new. Not a scratch on it and it worked perfectly. I paid something like 26.00 for that coil which is a super deal.

I looked for his auctions again recently because I was thinking of picking up the 10 1/2" spider coil, but haven't seen him lately.
I do have his email address somewhere and if you'd like, I'll see if I can find it and forward it to you. If you'd rather search for yourself, just use "Fisher 1200" for a search phrase in Ebay and you should find whatever's up for auction or at the Ebay stores.

Hope you find one!
Mike
