1236x2 question

I recently traded a detector for a Fisher 1236x2, I was told it was in mint condition (it is, actually show room condition) I was told it was bought brand new from a dealer in 2001 and it was a Los Banos model (I don't know). Honestly it doesn't matter to me where it was made because it works so well, but when it comes time to sell or trade it I want to know where it was made because it means a great deal to some. From reading through the forums over the years I have it in my head that the Los Banos models had a gold label on them, mine has a white sticker, I have also read that the Los Banos ones had a different begining serial number than mine does, my serial number starts with 112302 It would be nice if it was the older model but as I say it works great where ever it was made. I have been reassured from the guy I got it from that it was Los Banos made & he even emailed me a copy/picture of the warranty card but I have a gut feeling it is the 1st. Texas model. Thanks. Steve.

The one I saw had made in taiwan on the underside.

if its anything like the cz serial numbers the 1120 series were the second batch and some were really hot and some are kinda of duds because of employees that were fining out that they were going to F/T, not set in stone but this is what i read from a another forum but then maybe could be totally wrong for the 1200 series?

I don't see this on the one I have.

A big white one with serial number only is FT.2 piece rod ones are early ones.tab's on battery doors early, big knob's early, foam behind disc knob early, metal armrest early like 2000 or so.3 piece rods are like 2001-2002 till now..serial numbers up till out sourcing said los Banos under barcode..

Taiwan have a foam hand grip with ridge on top and bottom...3 piece rod same type serial number tag with barcode as the early ones..but don't say los banos on them like the earlier ones do.. Serial Sticker seems sort of cheap looking like weak ink...

That's what I remember...

Thanks Keith (and everyone else) mine is a Los Banos model going by Keith's post.

with a white lower rod on the earliest ones. Cripes I should know that for sure as I swung one for thousands of hours. LOL

Just like the 1235 had...they did not last long but they all ways seemed the hottest of all of them to me...this was before los banos started down hill,,,And actually the Taiwan ones seemed like they were better tuned than some of the later los banos before the out source...They must of been struggling from about 2004 or so till FT bought them out...

That''s bad when the out source do better than the in house !!!
