1236x2 on its way to me

Hi folks, I was tempted to get a 1270 but thought that the weight would get to me so I bought a 1236 instead. I bought the one on the big auction site that had a $250.00 buy it now price. The guy tells me it was his back up and it was never used, he said he took it out of the box put it together and tossed a coin on his living room floor to make sure it worked. It is a model that says assembled in Taiwan, I guess that doesn't mean that it will be no good. I normally use Tesoro's just wanted to try something different. Steve.

I'm happy to tell you that there are no and never has been any FISHER detectors made in TAIWAN.
As Motion said, they were all made in Los Banos Ca. Thats a good machine.
Have fun!

If you go tothe big auction site and place item number 160440404684 in the search box you will see the detector that I just bought.

I just found a nice used 5" coil for the 1236, should be a good combination.

Where is there a place that offers a 5" that isn't big $$$$$?
I was talking with a fella on the phone the other day and he told me he thought Richard of Backwoods Detectors had a used one for sale. I sent Richard an email last night and sure enough he had one, he was asking $55.00 delivered for it, I figured this was a good price so I grabbed it. I have dealt with Richard a few times & know he is a great guy to do business with. Steve.
