Hi I have a 1225X that needed service just got a call from Felix at Fisher said it needs a coil $ 145.00 is it worth putting that kind of money it ? I never got a chance to use the detector Paid $145.00 for it off of ebay are these detectors any good ?

Thanks for any replies in advance Jim

Well they are good detectors but not at a cost total of 290 thats a chunk of change to sink into a detector that old. To everyone their own but I wouldn't pay over a 175.00 for a 1225 new in box. That's my two cents.

Would tell Fisher service thanks, but that a little more money than your willing to go for the repair and request they sent you the unit back (you may be surprised to find that when you open the box it may end up having a new coil, its happened). If you get it back with the same coil just put a plea out for a used coil for it, I've seen those NOS 5" coils go for $50.00

I think the little detector is worth the price of a good used coil.

Not what I wanted to hear lol I have an old Whites Classic ID But I really don't like it oh well

My brother has some used coils that I know he's looking to sell, these coils are for the 1270 and the 1265, here is what he has,
A 1270 8" OEM coil that the coils wire jacket went bad on, but the coil still works! (the jacket has been taped up, so it may not be water proof)

Then he has two 1265 coils, they are, (these coils don't have any problems and I have tested these on my own 1266)
# 1 = the small 3.75" coil.
# 2 = the large 11" coil.

If, your interested in a price for the whole package send me a PM? The deal basically is buy that two 1265 coils and he'll include the 8" free.
Here is the stories on that coils.

He ended up making a deal for a used 1270 that not to long ago he had owned before,
In between the times he had owned it the jacket (outer wrap) had went bad, so he taped it up really well and used it like that until he ran across a pretty good deal on another 8" stock coil.

Then he bought the other two older 1265 coils because he (we) thought they would work on the 1270, which turned out not to be so true! thinking they were bad but wanting to test them on something else he brought them to my house and we tested both on my 1266, they worked fine! that's when we learned that the 1270 will roll back to the 1266 coils but not to the 1265 coils and we also learned that the 1266 will roll back to the 1265 coils. (meaning that the 1266 was perfectly happy with either the 1265 or the 1270 coils)

And the why I'm I contacted you instead of my brother??
He is going to be busy most of the day in a building project and seeing how I'm going to be at home helping my wife because she is down with a broken leg he thought I would be better able to make the early correspondences.

If your interested PM me, I'm going to be on and off the computer ALL day.
