how good is this coil as far as looking for cashe treasures? depth wise what can i expect like for say something the size of a kettle, plan to do some island searching this summer and trying to be ready.

I can't say I've found anything very big with the 12 x 10. I've used the 12 x 10 on the Cibola and a very little bit on the Tejon.

It air tests for me about the same as the standard 9 x 8 current on US coins. It will cover a lot more volume on a sweep than the standard coil.

I don't have a lot of time with the 12 x 10. My limited swing time and air tests make me think the big gain is area coverage.

thanks for the comeback there TVR, the only reviews i can find about this coil are mostly from the UK and they swear by it over there.

I didn't see a big difference in depth but I wasn't using it like that. I did see a big difference in weight. I heavy coil on a light detector doesn't work well with me. It seemed to balance better on the tejon.

well i guess i'll stick to the silver and 12 x 10 for now then and see what i run into from there, thanks for your info there TVR.

I use the 12x10 exclusively on the Vaquero and do find it somewhat deeper than the stock coil, and of course it covers much more ground. In moderate to bad ground, with it being a DD, it goes much deeper than the concentric. I do a lot of woods and field hunting for Civil War relics, and that's where it shines. In trashy areas, it wouldn't be the coil to go to though.

I've used a 10X12 concentric a fair bit on an Eldorado. Like the others, I haven't seen a great increase on coin size objects, but more coverage. That said, you mention cache hunting, kettle sized etc. I was doing some air testing with several of my machines the other day and I'd suggest you test your standard coil with coins, then move up to say an object like a fruit jar canning lid, then bigger items yet. It's quite an eye opener how much the detecting distance increases in relation to the size of the target. Granted, this was an air test and won't translate directly into ground depth, but will give you an idea of what to expect. I didn't test the 10X12, but the increase with the 8X9 was very interesting Trying this might give you a better feel for what you'll gain with your equipment.
