i posted a question earlier but i didn't make it clear i have had mine labs and tesro but i just bought a new mtx yesterday and i was wonted to get some info about it i herd its a real good machine but the question i have now is i went and bought a 12 super coil is this a good coil i like to build up a few coil so ill have a good choice when i think i need to switch coils

Hi Birddog, to answer your question, all Whites coils are good depending on the situation. If it was me I wouldn't be buying too many coils until I learned the MXT to know which ones I needed. The 12" is a concentric coil and better suited for lower mineralized ground. It gives greater coverage and is deeper than the stock 9.5 concentric coil. If your ground is mineralized like mine there are better choices. The 12" is big and is used when targets aren't close together and there isn't much trash. Use search, there isn't a coil that hasn't been covered in detail. Rob

I have one and find I don't use it all that much. I have other detectors with large coils as well and find that once in a while when I need to cover a fair bit of comparatively CLEAN ground they're good, but for most hunting I end up using the stock coils or smaller as they handle target separation in trash better, get into the occasional tight spot, pinpoint better and are nicer to swing for long periods. That said it is a good coil for what it is intended. My two bits.

I use my Super 12 in large areas and for Maximum Depth. In cluttered area's i use the 4X6 DD shooter coil. I like both of them.

I have the Super 12, the SEF 10X12, and several other coils...A choice is a good thing to have...I prefer the SEF, however, it is a little heavy and will void your MXT warranty.

I would question the voided warranty statement George. I have been a White's user and dealer on and off for 30 years now and never heard of such a thing.

After market coils will not void your Whites warranty. Rob

I have the Super 12 myself and about the only time that I do use it is in the Winter to get through the snow, I've had the D2 on my MXT most of the year except when hunt trashy sites, then I'll use the 4x6DD shooter.
