12" HOT HEAD COIL

Flintstone

Well-known member
HI Everyone,Has anyone used a 12" Hot Head coil on a 6000 Di PRO ? I got a nice 6000 Pro that has a new 12" HH coil with it and the 8" Blue Max, I only use the 8" have never put the 12" on, and don,t look like it has ever been on a detector. I don,t know if to sell it or keep it for open fields. One guy said it works grate on the beach but i never get to go to the beach much. Any info you can give will help. Thanks Flintstone

Hello Flintstone,

Back in the late eighties, I bought the 11-12" Hothead coil for my 6000 DI Pro SL. Depth was about the same compared with the standard 9.5" coil but in open areas perfered the larger hothead for overage. The larger hothead was even good in trashy areas, but depth was about the same.

But in your case, you mentioned only the 8" coil and the larger hothead in this case I would use the Hothead for depth and coverage. Between these two coils the Hothead would be my perfered coil, leaving the 8" for Extreamly trashy areas or were depth is not an issue.

Is your 6000 DI PRO the older blue box model? If it is its still as deep as the later black box model just not balanced as well.

Hi Paul, My 6000 Di is the newer black box, I also have a Eagle II Sl, That the Hot Head will fit. I love both these detectors but they are heavy. I was out today with my MXT and frond a 7.3 gram 18K ring with a big stone in the center and 6 around it, well 4 around it 2 were gone, but made my day. Good Luck Flintstone

Good job getting the large 18k gold ring, that ring along paid for the 6000 Di Pro you recently picked up. Also glad to hear you have the newer Di Pro model.

The MXT is a super neat detector, I have one too in fact it is my main relic detector using relic mode up in our Ca. Gold country. Use the prospecting mode too in tot lots really like the SAT speed increase it up a bit when working near metal poles and such, allows the toe of the 6x10"DD coil to get masked targets.

Congrats on the 18k gold ring, super neat find.

My 6000 DI PRO SL came new with the 12" HH coil ONLY...from Kellyco, I understand these were made by Compass just for Kellyco. Mine worked as advertised, but got heavier everytime I used it! Somebody else is using it now . I'm gettin' too old to tote the big ones.

Cheers, DR

Hi Barguy, That is what i was thanking that it is to heavy. I think i will just put it up for sell. Thanks Flintstone
