12" and 14" Depth with F70

I have read some very good reports on this Forum where some F70's are locating coins in ground at the above mentioned depths.
My F70 is on the way back to Fisher for the 2nd time because it won't signal/ID any of the coins in my test garden that are burried
at 7" to 8" deep. NOT A PEEP! I hope that when it comes back after the second trip it will work like it is supposed to. My coins have
been burried for a couple of years and I used just about every setting possible. Zero disc., high, medium, and low sensitivity, De and
Sl modes. No luck. Wish me luck folks. I have at least 30 years of detecting experience. My very first detector was a Whites
Coinmaster 6/DB. Anyone go back that far? HH to all. Dave.

There are several "old timers" on this forum-that have come up thru the ranks-that go back more than 30 years--and they know their "stuff".----Hopefully one or more of them will chime in & help you with your question/problem.----I have purchased the F70 and believe it to be a very good machine--but I don't know it that well yet so will leave that answer to someone that REALLY knows the 75/70.----BTW--I bought my first 2 detectors (Whites & Compass) around '74 or '75.-------Del

it was a good un in its day (heavy as heck, and you had to "retune" it every 6 feet...but it found stuff!!)
You must have something wrong with the 70 there bud. Most likely a poor performing coil. Whats your soil like??? Are you getting any bars on the "dirt" meter?? And what does it GB at?? It WILl make a difference in the depth of the unit. My 70 will easily get a 12" quarter in my test garden.....which GB's at 65......with NO dirt bars............ Streak!

That's the reason I sold a new F4 when they came out, wouldn't hit on my test garden, been looking at the F5 and 70 but I was so disappointed in the F4 I can't make myself spend the money to get disappointed again.

and yes I go back that far :)

Streak: The 6/DB was a good detector in it's day. I purchased a coil with a longer cord for it from Whites, put the control box in a plastic bag and floated it in a styrofoam box and used it in the water. It found me a ton of things in the TR mode. Now for the F70; when I ground balance it near my test garden I get a reading of 80/85. Dave.

Tony, thanks for the reply. I live in N.E. Pennsylvania. Where I usually hunt the ground has been great. I can use my CZ 70 Pro
with sensitivity set at 6 or 8 without a problem. Where my coin garden is, I get a high GB reading of between 80/85. Most of my yard
is fill from when my house was built some 40 years ago. Dave.

me!..white's 4db in '78!

(h.h!)
j.t.

Got started in 1972 myself with a Jetco and about 74 bought a White's Coinmaster (something). Good luck with your 70 problems. Kinda sounds like a coil problem, maybe? HH jim tn

you arent in coal country by any chance?? Ive hunted a lot of areas arouund Scranton and in the coal belt...........and it trying to say the least.......with ANY machine.

Streak, I live four miles from "Coal King" Scranton in a small town called Taylor but where I hunt is in the far outskirts where there
aren't any coal mines, just farm country, county fairs and old parks. Beautiful country. When were you in this neck of the woods?
Dave.

Thanks for the good wishes. Fisher should receive my F70 tomorrow, 9/18/'08. My fingers are crossed, even my legs. HH Dave.

I USED to live about an hour above Scranton........but not live about 45 mins Below it. (Just outside of stroudsburg). I HAVE hunted a lot of old coal mine communities..and they can make you tear your hair out. We ought to get together some weekend.I think I may be able to scarf up cellar hole or two. :)

That sounds good to me. I'm doing a little doctoring now for back (vertebrae) problem but as soon as I get the OK I'll give you a
yell. Dave.
