12.5 imaging coil

Hello All,

I bought a used 12.5 imaging coil from an internet store the other day for my GTI 2000. When it came in the mail today the first thing I did was to air test it to see how much more depth I could expect. To my surprise it had less depth than the 9.5 and when I tried it outside all it wanted to do was overload . I lowered sens. all the way to 3 to no avail.

After changing back to the 9.5 coil I now find that when pinpointing no matter where I point the detector it non stop sounds off. Even if I point it at the sky. Is it possible the 12.5 while overloading somehow messed up something in my detector ? The guy I bought the coil from said it would work on the 2000.
All the same it looks like it's going to have to go in for repairs. That will be my last internet purchase used or new.

A couple of years ago when I bought the 2000, Garrett told me all GTI coils would fit it except the two box. But when I wouldn't update to the 2500 when Garrett gave it a tune-up they contradicted themselves and told me only the white 9.5 coil would work. I figured that they just wanted to get rid of the extra white coils in the warehouse because that's what they replaced mine with. Later on they changed there story again but I'm sure the 12.5 should have worked fine.

Is there something I have set wrong ?

Thanks, Richard

Wow! Thats a new one on me. I don't have the 2500 (maybe someday) but I'm sure somebody on here would point you in the right direction. Sorry to hear about your problem bud.:rage:

Contact Melinda at Melinda.Harper@garret.com and explain the problem to her. I don't think the coil you got is tuned and calibrated for the 2000. A 12.5 coil was available for the 2000 when it came out but it was non-imaging.

I had a GTI2000 converted to the 2500 and was toll that coils for the 2500 would not work

with the 2000. I still have the 9.5 " for the 2000 but will not try to use it on the 2500.
