Bonjour Gentlemen ! could you help me ,i'm going to bid for a GT and like to know if the 18" coils are sensitive to "small" gold rings??and who built the best ones:look: ....thks

I would say no on that one as my understanding is the bigger the coil the less sensitive it is to small items. From my use of different coils I found the 12 inch Sun Ray the biggest i want for my coin hunting, the 15 inch WOT was too big and clumsy feeling for me and never felt I got anymore depth then the 12 inch. I feel the 15 inch would be good on the beach where you want some better coverage and been told the 15 inch WOT is sensitive to smaller items. The 18 inch I feel may give you the coverage, but you start losing depth and it would not be sensitive to small items like small ring I understand.
For small items like small gold ring I would use a smaller coil like a Sun Ray S8 unless you need a lot of coverage then the stock 10 inch coil would do OK for you.

hi burno,
this is just my thoughts but i think that in time you'll wined up breaking the coil off the lower shaft. ive used a Wot and found it just too heavy and as far has an 18 incher i wouldnt even think of it unless i fabed my own lower shaft but a sunray 12 will get down deep and their baby light.
