117 Degree Hunt Today

Older than Dirt called me and told me of an old bar that had been raised. It was 117 degrees when I left the house and only a couple of degrees cooler when I got there. I found a 1954 d penny, a rosie and a bunch of clad pennies. I didn't stay too long as I think the control box was melting. I'm pretty sure it was me, not the detector melting. Anyway, it was good to get out of the house for a short hunt. At least the Arizona heat is only really bad for 3 or 4 months. We do get to hunt all winter. I just wish we had some of the older areas like you folks in the east. I'll trade a few months of heat for none of that white stuff in the winter.
Thanks again to Older than Dirt for the tip. He is recovering from shoulder surgery so he is unable to hunt until he heels up some. Get well soon my friend !

Good hunting, John K

John,
Man that's way too hot for me. I'm from the mid-west and have experienced -56 degree weather in the UP, and hot desert weather, but my worst trip was a couple years in West VA on an artifact hunt. From cool, dry Denver to Little Washington with similar temp & humidity. I dehydrated pretty badly. My fault. I have since bought a backpack-water-dealey. Happy you had a good trip.

BTW: What the heck is a "Rosey"?
Good hunting, Bob
PS: Here's me on that trip...................

It was darn hot, but only about 3% humidity. I lived in Idaho for about 6 years at the base of the Teton Mountains. This year they had over 7 months of winter. It snowed there just two weeks ago. For an entire month there, it never got over 0 degrees in the daytime and ran anywhere from 25 to 55 below zero at night. The old bones just couldn't stand the cold anymore. I am going up there in another month to visit. Lots of great places to detect, so I should come back with some good keepers. I'm just waiting for the long desert winter. It can't be beat. A Rosie is a Roosevelt dime.

Good hunting, John K

Congrats on the "Hot" hunt! Man that is like crazy heat. It does sound like a spot worth re visiting though, Beale.

Thanks for the acknowledgement John. Don't know how long it will be before I can get out to hunt and wanted someone to check this place out before something was built on it. Maybe, when I heal up we can hit it again and also that old motor inn we hunted before.
Good hunting my friend,
Lanny
