11" Stock and X-12 Sunray Coils

Has anyone used both of these coils , and if so , have you liked one over the other. I don't ever get out to try them. So I rather sell the X-12 if it's just the same as the stock coil. Any info ? Thanks , GS

I would keep both and this is why !!! I have both and each coil has its own values in the field. So if you say you have not used either coil in the field,I would not just sell them off based on hear-say. IMO, there is not a single dominate do all coil. Just for kicks and finding the goods, hunt a area with your favorite coil ,then switch coils and go over the same area. I think you will be surprised at times what was missed because of soil conditions and how each coil reacts to the target in different conditions.

I would trade the Sunray for a smaller Coil such as the Coiltek 10X5. Like the poster above hunt with your favorite switch then see what you missed. The smaller coil will not be as deep but it will pick out good signals in trash that will be missed with bigger coils.

The Sunray X-12 Coil is a Beast at Hittin' Deep Silver on edge. Don't ask Me why, But it's something with the design. I found a 11'' Seated Dime and a Barber Quarter last year both completely on Edge with the X-12''Coil I knew the Pro coil missed. I also love the Sunray X-8 and use it more then the Pro coil as almost as deep and better separation in trash. Too many Fall in love with the Pro coil and think it is the be all end all ,But others will give you a edge in some place's.

I have smaller coils. ( X-5 , 6" detect, 4x7 detect, 6x8 detect and the X-8 coils ) I was thinking of a 13" Ultimate but I have the stock Pro 11" and X-12 Sunray . I guess I will keep them all. I need the info for the 11" Pro coil and 12" Sunray. But I think you all have a point. Not all the same size coils work like each other and work better in different situations. I found my first silver coin with the Etrac and it was a seated using the 6" detect. Oh yea forgot to mention I also have the 8" concentric detect . Thanks guys, GS

GS, The nice thing about having the E-Trac is the choices of available coils at hand as com- paired to the other detectors. Build an arsenal to extract as much as possible from each location. Just remember each change of coil is like having a new machine for that hunt. I have the Sun Ray X5,X8,X12 all are quality coils. I have the SEF 6X8,10X12, 12X15 Which have certain use for the situations and conditions. I also have the stock11 inch and the 13 inch Ultimate coil for a total of eight coils. The way I see it is they are far less then the big brother detector coils and it keeps the so called hunted out spots fresh each time out. So have fun with each hunt by coil choice !

I know this is an old thread , but do you still have the s-12 sunray coil? Amd is it for sale ?. Thanks jeff
