11" DD coil for Bounty Hunter

Has anyone ever used the coil and if so how did you like it. Its a 11" DD coil made for the Fisher F4 & F2 and Bounty Hunter it says. Do DD coils do any better than the regular round ones? If the DD coils work better then would this be a good buy for a 505, here is the like to the coil I just dont know if i want to spend that much and not gain anything. Just trying to improve what I have, I really like BH's, but I think it will be time soon to upgrade to another brand and model. I like so many its just to hard to choose form, should I get the norm a White's or maybe a Fisher or Minelab. What the hell buy them all LOL, just dont know anymore.

I have heard folks say they have used them, but I have not confimed weather they work correctly or not...Something tells me the ID and depth would be off...The machine is calibrated to the concentric coils...A DD is better in mineralized ground, and also is less likely to false from EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference).

HH,

thanks, I notice you around alot and on different forums, so I guess you would know. Are there any kind of 505 mods at all big or small.

I imagine if you knew which pot on the board was which (I do not know), you could add external Ground Balance and Threshold adjustments, but I myself would not attempt it unless I was absolutely certain which pot was which.
Not easy to mod these new digital beasts...

HH,

Yea your right and I don't even know what the values of the pots would be anyways. Thanks for chiming in.

I have the F4 with DD coil .I also have a Disc 3300 .I use 4 and 10 inch BH coils and 8 inch on the F4.I found that the DD has the same depth as the 8 inch coil that came with the F 4.The DD loves bottle caps and rusty iron. It is a pain to pinpoint with .Now I use the 10 inch coil for less trashy areas it gets deeper than the DD with excellent pinpoint and target id. You shouldn"t have to recalibrate for the DD.But just to be sure call First Texas Service and they will answer any question you might have. All BH and F4 coils should interchange .

Thanks for the info. how do you like your F2, is it nice and accurate?

I have the F4 and the Discovery 3300 they are both pretty accurate on id . Each one has good and not so good points. The F4 has loud audio and keeps its settings using pinpoint. It does not have ground balance except in disc mode.F4 pin point is not as accurate as the Disc. The Disc has lower audio tones loses settings when using pin point, gets less battery life but it does have manual ground balance . It also seems to have a depth advantage. If the Disc had volume control and kept its settings it would be my main detector . Sorry I have no experience with the 505 but have only heard good things about it. That's my 2 cents worth.

Want to trade for my bounty hunter 505 and give it a spin? :twodetecting:
