10''x14''excelorator coil for ace 250

There are several folks using one and I'm field testing one now for the 250 and will have a report in a day or two. It goes as deep as a coil this size would suggest. Since it is a DD coil it excels in mineralized ground but in normal ground goes no deeper than a concentric of the same size. It does offer much greater ground coverage and eliminates overlapping as it detects the full length of the coil. Due to the winding configuration there is no receiver for pinpointing so one must pinpoint off the toe or heel of the coil as it detects as deep at either end as it does anywhere else. Since it does not discriminate nearly as well as a concentric it absolutely loves bottlecaps and foil. It also has a fondness for deep quarters.

I have used the 10x14 coil for some time now and i can't see any difference in the pin pointing, but the depth is much better in most soils. It has its place just like the smaller coil does.
Just a little heaver though

I've been enjoying that 10"x14" DD Excellerator that is made for the Ace on my old GTAx 1250!:detecting:It works great and it's much lighter than the Garrett 10"x14" DD that Garrett makes. However, the Garrett's are built to last forever.:garrett::detecting:Happy Hunting!:)

bought one for my Ace last fall when Kellyco had them on sale for 99.00. works great in clean open areas, have found clad dimes and quarters at 7-9", pinpointing is not bad, but it's a disasster in trashy areas. only complaint i have is that it like reading rusty old bottle caps as quarters, and it's dam near as heavy as the detector, but overall i have no regrets.
