I have the GTP 1350 and while detecting with the 10/14 coli(GTAx Power DD) the things makes so many sounds its driver me nuts.... it seems to work when i turn the sensitivity down to around 5 or 6 out of 12,,, but when i turn it up to awound 9 or 10 the thing goes crazy,,, i dont even want to talk about it when i max it out,,, anyone know why this is,,, Even when i take the detector and point it straight forward not aiming it at the ground it goes crazy,,, it seems at the end of every sweep its going off,, should i try taping the string to the shaft

What mode are you detecting in ? Does it do this in all modes? You are working outside with no obvious interference sources correct - seems like a dumb question but I had to ask. Do you know a dealer or another Garrett user close by that you can let check out the coil on another detector?

For one thing you're running your sensitivity way to high. The 1350 is ultra-sensitive, and yes, tape or fasten your cable to the shaft. Run your sensitivity at 6 or 6.5. If you have a lot of mineralization in your area, running high sensitivity will drive your detector nuts.
