10x12 WHITE SEF COIL PROBLEM

JV

New member
I thought I found a good deal for only $75 I bought a used 10x12 WHITE SEF coil and I can only get it to 6 sensitivity and no TX boost before it overloads.
I tried moving around the cord and end connectors and I don't think it is a short.
Is there anything that can be done? Or did I waste $75?

First off... Who did you buy it from? I received 4-5 bad ones new, back when they first came out. However....

There should be a coil cover on the bottom of it and these tend to fill with water and mud and can cause bad coil issues. You will need to gently remove this coil cover by prying slowly all the way around the front or back with a dull flat object. If removing debris does not fix it proceed to the next step...

Does it behave differently if you wiggle the coil connector at the coil? If not proceed to the next step...

Remove the coil connector off the coil cord by depressing the small square tab and slide the coil connector housing down towards the coil. Now push and bend and twist the wire trying to duplicate or alleviate the problem. If this does nothing remove the hot glue carefully and inspect the wires to make sure nothing is touching and check the coil at this step. If nothing is grounding out than try the coil again. If still not working proceed to the next step....

You can always send it back to Bulgaria or you can strip the end of the coil wire back behind the strain relief (the metal pinch tab inside the connector) and solder the connections.

Sending it back is pretty much a sure fix and it may not be the connector, but it has been the connector three times for me and mineral buildup once in the coil cover.
I hope this helps.

I would ask for my money back for sure.

It is too late to return it I waited too long to try it out...

So I tried everything you suggested and the only difference I notice is that In rx gain of 14-15 with TXboost ON the problem goes away??? but lots of false signals in the air.
Also sometimes I get an overload signal in the air but when I put it on the ground it goes away??
WIggling the connector and cord doesn't seem to affect anything.
Any idea?

Can I send it back to Bulgaria? Will they fix it?
Any contact info for them?
THANKS!

I believe Kellyco can fix them if its just a connector problem. I would check with them first.
