10x12 SEF vs. X-12

I hate to beat a dead horse but I tend to do this when its starts to get cold and I can't get out to hunt. I just finished a full season with the Sunray X-12 coil and couldn't be happier with it. It's lighter than my stock Exp II coil and gets some awesome depth and great coverage while handling EMI and ground mineralisation fairly well. It leaves nothing to be desired for me in the 12 inch coil category. So why the heck has my curiousity peaked lately with the 10x12 SEF? Who knows. Like I said, when it gets cold I go into a "grass is greener on the other side" mentality and think about how to gain an edge next year. I have a 6x8 SEF and LOVE it in trashy areas. I have stayed away from the 10x12 so far because of the weight. I'm in really good shape and know I can handle the weight but I also know what kind of long term damage detecting does to the body and I don't want to provoke injury with prolonged use of a heavier than necessary coil. I know about the swingy thingy but hate the hassle of bungee cords. From everything I have seen and read the 10x12 doesn't appear to be leaps and bounds over the X-12 in ability so could anyone with a fair amount of experience with both or anyone who wishes to throw in some common sense please give some feedback. Thanks, JJ

I have only had my X-12 for a week, but from what I have experienced it is an awesome coil. It pinpoints well and seems to hit deep coins a lot harder than my Pro-Coil. I pulled 12 additional coins from an old schoolhouse site, now a cornfield that I hunted with my Pro-Coil a week earlier. It seemed to handle the ground much better than the Pro-Coil. I was hoping that the X-12 was as stable as my X-8 and it has so far proven to be, but time will tell.
