10X12 SEF pinpointing

Is pinpointing with the 10X12 difficult with MXT? I tried doing a search on SEF in all forums for all dates-nothing came back. I must be doing something wrong?

Sometimes it's very difficult - if the item is in the top 3 or 4 inches then I can usually get it 1st time somewhere near the centre - after that it can be anywhere from the centre to the outer edge at 4 O clock - I have now bought a Garrett probe to help - never needed one before in 12 years of detecting :yo:

I don't use the MXT, but I do hunt with the 10X12 and pinpointing has never been a problem for me, always right in the middle of the coil right in front of the rod mount. Always start your pinpoint off to the side of the target in clean ground and then pull your coil back over the target. Some like to pinpoint off of the tip of the coil as well by dragging the coil back over the target until the pinpoint signal disappears. The target should then be right in the little V where the two loops of the coil overlap. If it still does not work, you may have a defective coil.
