I just got a sef for my minelab se,I am havind troube with it falseing. Any time I touch grass while sweeping it false's. I tried turning down the sensitivity which helped some. Any ideas or did I get a bad one?

I really push mine along the ground and do get occassional falsing. What have you been running your sensitivity on? I get more when im running gain 10, Deep on, and sensitivity at 28 manual. My normal settings are gain 9, deep off, and sensitivity 28 auto which works well for me.

Have you pulled the cover off and see if you got any build-up of dirt/sand?

I dont know what kind of coil you were using before, but you obviously know its acting up. With the SEF you should be quieter than the standard coil... if not, call Tony at Kelleyco he should be able to give you some advice. Im with magic thou, check that dirt under the coil. It is really surprising how little it takes to start the machine chattering. For me, falsing, hot rocks, or EMI is something i recognize and just ignore in certain areas. I can compensate for it but in certain situations it become ambuant noise after awhile that i ignore.
