10x12 SEF coil vs 11 inch stock coil

I just got the SEF yesterday and found a suspender clip with the lesche completely underground when I was done digging. The thing feels like it weighs a ton compared to the pro. Not sure if the depth increase (if there is one) would be worth the extra weight.

Gates is right about there not really being a depth difference, it is heaver, and id give the edge to the pro on tiny items thou the SEF isnt bad for such a large coil. Both seperate well for their size... i think the SEF hits a little harder on coins. Ive found adjusting the rod length properly really helps the weight and balance. Everyone that compares the coils i think agrees both find about the same thing when tested. Now here is the biggy..... check out the difference in price.... what $50? Now what you paying for? Minelab is just a little pricy on all their stuff and when you can get something comprable... why not. Everyone talks about the new machines being pricey... would you buy one if you had something very simular for say 15 to 25 % less? This is like machines... everyone has their preferrence.

Hi Bugalooob,

I also read everything I could on both coils before getting the SEF. Not just the price for me but the look of the SEF put the fear into all my buddies.HE HE!
One thing I might say is that I haven't seen many negative posts about either coil. The Pro seems to be lighter, The SEF width and length difference makes it seam more easily vacuum like. BIG VACUUM! I have found 1/4 targets and 22 cal shells with it. Lots of folks say its easy to find the target at the end of the SEF as it sits in the butterfly joint but for precision I am not dead on very often but getting better. ( I miss the pinpoint on my old whites)
Soon I will have both coils and give them both a try. Hope this helps.

Good luck
