10k mans large class ring...Need Help Please

Hello all. This is my first post and I'm so glad I found this forum. I have been asked to help find a class ring that was lost 4 years ago on a middle school football field. My problem is I've never found a class ring before so I have no clue what VDI number to look for. I use the AT Pro. I'm sure the numbers may vary so any advise you can give me will help. The ground on the field is very compact but the day the ring was lost it had rained a lot. That leads me to believe the ring was stepped on and pushed down into the soft dirt/mud. I don't think it will be more that 2 to 3 inches. It was lost by the head coach during football practice.

It depends on what the ring is made with.. 8K ..10K .. 14K ... Silver .. Silver / gold ... etc ... You just have to dig all targets.

VDI will be jumping around it it is laying flat because of the hole

If he is / was the head coach that will narrow the search area

Many of the mens class rings I have recovered came in in the cent range. They were not always a clean signal or tid, often a bit jumpy. It shouldn't yet be all that deep so should give a pretty good hit. Readings close to cents is where I would start anyway, to keep from digging up the whole field. Good luck. HH jim tn

Thanks guys. I have talked with other members of my metal detecting organization and have gotten different responses. Based on what you guys said and what they said I guess I'm just going to have to listen to and possibly dig every target I get in the gold range. Hopefully it won't take too long. I will appreciate any more advise y'all may have. Thanks.

See if you can find someone else that has the same ring and see how it comes up on your detector. Shouldn’t be that hard.

I have found 2 large mens 10k class rings, one in 3 ft.of water in a freshwater lake with at pro that hit 72 vdi with nice clean tone. The other ring I dug in a city park 3 in deep that hit 70 vdi, and with good lock on tone , this one was with AT gold. Good Luck.
