From the land of the Bluenose...Bardman arrived promptly on the dime in the "Green Hornet" and away we went down the south shore passing several Tim's on the way. Day was just too darn hot and muggy to drink java so we loaded up on Gator Ade and ginger ale.
Stopped at two of the schools that I attended when just a young bouy who struggled through high school and excelled at recess, lunch hour, soccer and the birds and the bees! Got a small thrill stepping between the pips on the old soccer field which brought back many a pleasant memories especially the bus trips for away games with the cheer leaders on board. Paula one of them and my then "flame." In retospect she was one unattractive girl who without a doubt could eat corn through a picket fence but then again she did have two outstanding attributes which at my age then was hard to look past.
Both Bardman and I sweated off a dozen Bud and got our fill of coins. Here is the only known photo of the Bardman since his return to Canada from out West.
Still recall the song that I sang on the bus as a 14 year old...here are the words;
We love beer
We love gin
And we always get our s*&n
On th back seat of ole number 9.
We go guzzle, guzzle guzzle
As the beer runs down our muzzle.
Shout out the order loud and clear, more beer.
For when Butch comes in he will offer us a dozen
On the back seat of ole number 9,
Of course when I arrived home my better half was the proverbial karaoke machine with the Patsy Kline Review...not too bad at that! End result from the day was 106 coins @$7.30, silver signet ring, silver arrow head pendent and a lead fishing weight!
