102 SILVERS IN LESS THAN 6 MOS.!!

Hi All: This has been a great detecting season in NW Illinois, ground is near perfect for this late due to cool temps and timely rains. I was out the other day with friends to an overworked park. I had sold a used Explorer 2 and was helping hime get accustomed to it. My first target showed dime and I had him come over and run it, I told him to dig it and get used to deeper coins, he yelped and said it was just as I had said ,silver dime. He then went to work on his own and was finding coins at some good depths. I continued and found two more mercs in the trash. Now in a previous post many say that the smaller loops give better seperation. Possibly since I do not use one due to the fact with a slow and I mean Slowwwww swing in the trash, check and recheck I get great seperation on trash and coins in heavy trash sites.
The three mercs put me at 101 silvers and went out to the same spot again yesterday and popped an 1892 barber. I believe that with the E-tracs technique will come to you with the standard equipment. NOW lets not all get huffy and I purchased a 6x8" SEF and it arrived yesterday so off I go to see the difference if there is any just my experience and what I am finding see attached pics, the silver dollar was 6" on edge at homeplate on an old ball diamond that most gave up hunting due to TRASH, there were two mercs,a silver rosie and other coins around the area also. LOW and Slow got em all. There are 40 mercs,38 rosies, lots of barber and seated, one bust half, 1 2 reale 1774 and others these sere all found with the stock 11" loop in lots of trashy spots, get to know what you got and then if the need arises go to the smaller loops. Just my opinion but as a dealer I have to check out things also so off with the smaller loop, I have ran the 5" excelerator on the Explorer 2 and it did well on small items, trash areas and small gold nuggets. Good hunting to you all,Exanimo.:minelab::clapping:Hardrock P.S. The diamond/emerald ring was in trash too, fits the wife nicely helps getting to go detecting as much as I do. TY Lord!!:detecting:

oh how I crave a bust half and for that matter a silver 3 cent.Very nice

Those are some awesome finds!!! I hunt alot in the Chicago area and have only found one seated dime to go with my other 128 silver coins for the year. It would be sweet to find some of those older coins down here. Hopefully the etrac will sniff them out if they are under the coil when I sweep for them. TMAN...

WOW!! Way to go on all that silver..You must have enjoyed each one of those digs!Keep up the good work,Thx for the pics and story.Look forward to more.HH

Very nice finds. Thats proves your theory of the stock coil info you reponded to my quest about. Keep us informed of your thoughts of the smaller coils also.

Great group of silver you have there. Congratulations!!! :clapping:

I agree, low and slow is the way to go. But keep in mind that target separation isn't just getting rid of junk laying to the right or left of the target. You have to separtate the good target from junk laying at the nose or the heel of the coil as well. And as good as the DD coils separate, they are hot all the way down the middle, from tip to heel. If you are hunting an area with targets every direction, only a few inches apart, Murphy's Law says you are just as likely to have junk toward the tip of the coil or toward the heel of the coil as you are to have one to the right or left of the center. The choice then is to work the area from multiple directions, using the bigger coil. Or, use a smaller coil and reduce your odds of having multiple targets under the center, simultaneously. But then what happens to the coins that are deeper than the small coil detects? I'd suggest the best solution is to use both! JMHO HH Randy

Great finds there Hardrock. Can't wait to get back over your area and learn from the Master! Leave a few for me. You look beat in the picture. Perhaps you should take a break for a couple weeks and let your knees rest until mid August? Just a thought? Only thinking of your health really!

Thanks for posting,

HH,

Dave
