[size=large]old finds are always great. it's especially great that you and you dad are hunters together. i'd love to get just one of my kids interested.you have something great just in that.

Yea we have a lot of fun... aint nothing like digging up something not knowing whats it going to be haha... wish we knew a little more about our DFX.. it does so much and we just use the simple prest that came on it haha

[size=large]you find out something about the machine and get to pass it on to your dad. he gets to do the same for you. you'll never forget that time together whether you find tons of treasure or nothing at all.

Have you tried reading the posts or ask questions on the DFX Users Classroom? A wealth of info. http://www.findmall.com/list.php?28

Thank you Widebody it is 100 years old haha... We found it on the part of the playground where the kids play touch football it wasn't about 1 inch deep... but they had done some work on the playground and we think they must had helped unburie it for us haha...

Larry,

I have tried your program and its just to hard for me and my dad yo understand how it works... We just need someone to sit and tell us what we need to set all the presets to so it best fits out Mississippi ground ... But we are going to keep trying...

Completely understanding the DFX is difficult at best and unless you have someone else in your area to lend a hand, we will not be able to help much with your ground conditions and settings. Have you tried to find a local dealer for suggestions? If a programmable detector proves to be too much of a challenge, I might suggest a very good turn on and go detector like the MXT or MXT Pro. I think you might enjoy the hobby more not having to worry about getting the DFX set right for your conditions.

Yea there is a dealer in Ellisville MS but we talked to him and he we know more about it than he did haha... Well we want to learn more about the DFX we might get a bigger coil and see what it will do for us as far as going deeper any suggustions?

Large coils work OK in open ground with little trash and you can gain some depth but I don't have any recommendations. The largest coil I used was the SEF 10X12 but that was not that much deeper than the stock 950 but better on coverage.

[size=large]i haven't seen any suggestions on reading the dfx book,"digging deeper". i've just been reading some books for the xlt and it does have helpful info that even i can understand.

i'm a hands on learner. i have'ta see and use to understand things. i do count my blessings that i have access to a xlt guru. monte by name. whites xlt and mxt by fame. read the book and get out with the machine and see where your understanding starts to fall into place. the guru's all say the same thing. get out and play with it. and please never take it serious. it's a hobby not work.
my understanding is the straight out of the box coin program is not as good as the c/j program. given time and experience you'll figure out how to eeek out the dfx powers. even if it takes 100 yrs.
