100 coins! :garrett: A T Pro

As I posted a couple weeks back, I bought another A T Pro. Love the tones on the A T and finally broke down and got another one. Plus, it's water proof, you know!

Anyway, my hunting buddy and I hit our old fairgrounds today. Been getting some rain and about the only time you can dig on the old grounds is after a good soaking. Over the years it has had a lot of different activities on it and many area's are a dirt, gravel mix along with some broken up asphalt and has a lot of decaying iron around. Even under the best of digging conditions it is a tough dig. Although it has been hunted hard over the years, it still gives up a goodie here and there. A couple of months back I recovered a 1855o Seated half and a 1853 Seated dime. So, the lure for something good still draws us to the spot.

This morning, how these were missed over the years is a good question, I hit two monster coin spills. Unfortunately, they yielded all modern era coins. From the first one from about a 2' square area I recovered 18 quarters. No other type of coins, just quarters. An hour or so later I ran into another one. I don't know how many coins came out of this 3' or so square area, but it had to be at least 70. Besides the 18 quarter spill, I hadn't dug more then 8 to 10 other coins all morning and one of those was a 51 wheat.

As we were working our way back to our vehicles, I got a screaming hit reading in the silver quarter range. From about an inch I popped a nice hefty 925 marked silver ring. It probably hadn't been there to long and may have been lost by a frisbee golf player. My guess, anyway. All in all, an interesting 4 hour hunt. HH jim tn

Nice ring............. wow 100 ups and downs..good thing there were a lot in some of the downs

Ha on the slim and trim. Actually, on the second (spill) coins were coming our of the dirt 4 and 5 at a time. My buddy also came over and did some digging while I worked the pin pointer through the dirt. I was kneeling the whole time. HH jim tn

Century days are few and far between and the ring looks much better than the clad. Must be some corrosive soil. Glad you had some help recovering all those coins.

Wow!! 100 coins are too much work, Congrats for this great hunt! I had one of 160 coins, very tired and 90% was old coins (1950/1999) worthless ...
