10 year old girl shoots 11' 7" brown bear in Alaska~Click on link for photo's

http://www.larryrivers.com/ferns_brownbear.htm

We stalked him down to 30 yds, and Robin (mom) was not all that thrilled with being there. When he started to move away Fern took her shot, at about 35 yds.

Robin wonders why we are happy to shoot long distance for sheep and caribou and congratulate ourselves on how great the shot was, but we try to get within a couple of yards for dangerous game. She has a point I guess, but it sure is exciting.

Oh yes....We were attacked by a wolf too! So much for the theory that they never attack people. 6 wolves came into the valley and moved around us, Five moved within 30 feet of us then left. One stayed further away and watched us, then crouched down and started stalking us even when we stood up at yelled at him. At 40 feet he started a full speed run.... at 15 feet I threw up the rifle and shot him in the face. He dropped a few steps from me. You want to experience something exciting? Now thats what Im talking about!

Summer showed up while we were away. I hope we didn't miss the good part of it. Got to get to work before freeze-up!
