Thought that I would do something different for a change. I grabbed my GTI 1500 and GTP 1350 , and some coils that I don't use on a regular basis. The location was an old abandoned beach which had been hunted since the middle 70's. I wanted to see if the 10" x 14" DD coil on the GTP 1350 would maybe give me a keeper or two. I walked around with both the GTI 1500 and GTP 1350, always using both to check each signal.

Here is the beach that I worked at today. I spoke with the caretaker prior to hunting, and he requested that I fill my holes in. The grass has long grown in over the sand where the beach once was.

My third signal, kinda weak and in the tinfoil range with the 10" x 14" DD coil at about 8-9 inches got me this kids ring. In my books, a ring is a ring is a ring is a ring......

After a couple of more junk finds....small balls of tinfoil to be exact, a pulltab reading got me a gold signet ring. Judging from it's size.....it must have belonged to a 10 year old. Gotta dig those pulltabs!

Well, things got quiet for about an hour, then a signal in the pulltab range again. I dug a hole about 10 inches and got another gold. Wow! I was kinda stunned.
Luckily, that 10" x 14" DD PROformance Coil with the GTP 1350 did exactly what I hoped it would do. It got the depth to get the good stuff. Now, the ID for nearly all targets was not quite where it should have been, but then again nearly all detectors loose the ability to ID correctly as depth increases. I was listening for those repeatable zips that you can miss if you swing too fast. I heard them, dug them and was rewarded with some nice finds.

Here are my finds, minus some tinfoil, wire and hunks of pipe. Kind of a cool violin. It was all covered with rhinestones at one time. All that's left are those little holes. I also got a small metal (lead) soldier. It appears he once had a rifle in his hand.

Well, frost started appearing on some of the grass, which mean it was time to go home! Got another day in before the snow arrives
