10 Wheaties and 2 silver

I went to an old home site today for the first time. I was hunting in high trash mode again, I really like that program. I spent about 3 hours covering the back yard area and was real pleased with my finds for the day. Most of the coins were 4 to 6 inches deep and those old copper roofing tacks (picture of tacks wouldn't upload) gave off a real nice signal so I had to dig them too. The Merc dime is in real nice shape and it and the Roise are my first silver dimes with the V3i. I think I like it!!

That V3i will grow on ya the more you use it and learn it. Nice hunt Jim.

Nice hunt! I am starting to like the high trash mode as well. Went to a very high trash park last Sunday. Was able to pull out more modern clad and a lot less bottle caps and tabs. I only worry that I will miss some jewelry. But there are so many pull tabs.

That is the same question I had for some of the old pro's. What do you lose by using the "High Trash" program?

I think depth suffers and of course some targets are discriminated out. But that is not bad if you are hunting in a very trashy area and are after coins.

Nice hunt for sure, and those little silver dimes are so pretty when they pop out of the hole. You might consider using a smaller coil, reduce the gain a little in HiPro, and work slow in the trash. (it's possible you may have missed something of course) I've been trying a new technique in trashy area's I've previously hunted by turning TX on in HiPro, reducing the RX to about 3-6 and using my 5.3 coil. My results are a bit mixed so far but I have found stuff that I missed previously that was masked by pulltabs and other trash. (I'm still experimenting, but I like the results so far)

I am still so new to this machine that I read advice on changing settings ect and it doesn't mean a thing to me. I am sure in time it will all come together but for now I'm having fun with my new toy and feel lucky to have found some old coins. I have used my XLT for years in preset programs with great results but I think I will enjoy learning the V3i in time. Thanks for all the advice from the forum, Jim
